The effects of gender imbalance at such a great scale will be devastating. This is so as it will lead to a decrease of the population of a country, a different treatment towards the females, as well as hinder the growth of the countries' development.

Firstly, gender imbalance may lead to a decrease in birth rate. In China, it states that for every 120 males, there would be 100 females. This gap is especially huge , as China has the largest population in the world. This would then lead to males not being able to find wives, and also not being able to give birth. As the replacement rate for a couple is 2, at the minimum to replace themselves, the population in China would drastically drop in the near future, as a result of the gender imbalance.

Secondly, gender imbalance will in turn affect the treatment of females. It states that "cases of human trafficking as bachelors try to "purchase" their wives. " Due to the gender imbalance, and the decrease of females, the males would then be more voilent and desperate, using such method to get themselves a wife. It will also lead to an increase of trafficking cases as well as prostitution, being very degrading towards the females. Hence, the gender imbalance would result in a harsher treatment of the female population, and is a devastating consequence of gender imbalance.

Finally, the gender imbalance will hinder the growth of the country. It states that"political and social stability in both countries could suffer. It is feared that the millions of restless young men could begin to vent their frustration through violence, crime, and political extremism". This shows that the gender imbalance would cause the country to suffer, as the males may choose to vent their anger in violence and crime, resulting in chaos. This would prevent the futher growth of the country, due to the problems caused by gender imbalance. Hence, this is a devastating consequence of gender imbalance.

Due to gender imbalance, the asian countries may suffer horrible consequence. They would have a drop in population, a different treatment towards the females, and also hinder the growth of the nation. This is why it is important to mantain a stable sex-ratio, and to prevent these situations from happening.
