Experience a Natural Disaster Online Lesson #6 (ACE)

Earthquake

The ground shook violently, as a 8.0 magnitude earthquake struck the heart of Singapore. Suddenly, the lights went off, and our ceiling portrait landed on the ground, shattered into a thousand pieces. Tears filled my eyes, knowing that the thought of dying raced through my mind. Then, I thought about my loving parents. Were they all right? My heart was pumping fast, I was nervous. I could not bear the thought of them leaving.

Just as sudden as it began, the earthquake had stopped. Luckly for me, the building did not collaspe, or else my hope of survival would have been none. Desperately looking for the phone, I looked out of the shattered window. Roads destroyed, houses collasped, vehicles turned over, flashing their headlights. Finally, I was relieved. I had found the phone. I dailed my parent's number, but to my dismay, there was no answer. I began to panick again, not knowing what had happened to them. Wondering if they were still alive. Hoping for the best.

Then, the phone rang. It was my parents. A sigh of relief came to me, just as I answered the call. They were safe. However, the incident was worse than it seemed. I could feel a knife pierce through my heart, when I heard the death toll. Many loved ones lost in a matter of minutes, lives destroyed. Once a prosperous nation, now down on its feet. We required rescue to build our city back to a nation again.
