Reflections on racial slurs-Online lesson(ACE)

From past event, such as the civil war, and the civil rights movement in the United States, and the Maria Hertogh riots in Singapore, it shows how racism can cause major problems in the societies. Hence, in our societies today, it is important to learn from the past, and not to stir up racial problems, especially in Singapore as it is a multi-racial society. As such, a racial riot will have very devastating consequences.

In my opinion, racial slurs are a very rude and racist words that should not be used against another race. This is because these words will definately stir up racial tension between the races, and is undesire in Singapore.

I have once saw my classmate insult an indian construction worker by calling him names such as "black" and making jokes about him. This made me rather angry and fustrated at my classmate, as I think he was too outrageous. In my opinion, we should respect one another, and among the different races in our society. This would prevent any racial problems, and keep Singapore a strong multi-racial society.
