LA lessons is a great learning experience. We learn alot about language and literature. For example, we learn how to analyse a poem, so that we can appriciate it more. And we also improve our compositions at the same time by having a greater knowledge of vocabulary and better grammer.
We are now learning how to analyse a unseen poem. We started on this topic since the end of the previos test. First of all, we were taught the ten step process.
Which is:
1)Forget the meaning of the poem and what it is about
2)Look at the title and write down at least six thing that the title suggests to you
3)Read the poem one more time
4)Make a list of the things that force their attention at you
5)Make a list of the figurative language used
6)Find the groups of the words
7)Look for patterns though all the notes you have written down
8)Read the poem once more and make intelligent guesses on what the poem may mean
9)Answer the following questions
Who is the speaker?
Who is it spoken to?
What is the speakers attitude?
Why is it organised in that way?
What is the effect of the things that you have noted down?
10)Write a critical appriciation of the poem
Then, we were taught how we can use the ten step guide to analyse a poem, and learn the format on how to write so that we can be prepared when teh test comes on week 10.We were also taught on all the figurative language. For example, metaphor, simile and alliteration and the effects of the figurative language.
